Situated between the two towns of Barnstaple and Bideford is the beautiful, historic fishing village of Instow. The Tarka Trail passes right through into the heart of Instow, where visitors can walk or cycle south to Bideford, or North to Fremington or Barnstaple.
Instow is bursting with history and character and features easily accessible facilities including a range of food outlets, toilets, beach shops, a slipway and car park. There is plenty to do for children and lots of space to play, making Instow a great destination for a family day out.
The beach at Instow looks out over Appledore to the west and Crow Point to the north. Activities on the beach include windsurfing and kite-surfing. Dogs are allowed on the beach and the adjacent dunes with some restrictions in the summer season.
