Burrows car park closes
Due to Government advice and in line with other car parks in the area, the car park for Braunton Burrows at Sandy Lane was closed on Wednesday 25th March.
Both the Braunton Burrows and the beach remain open, but as they are both difficult to reach by foot or public transport, the closure of the car parks effectively makes both inaccessible to most people.
The official statement on the Braunton Burrows Public Information page on Facebook read:
“In line with Covid 19 guidance from the Government and the police, Sandy Lane car park will be closed to visitors from 7pm on Wednesday March 25th until further notice.
This decision has been taken in the context of limiting ‘non-essential travel’ and placing unnecessary strain on emergency services in their efforts to manage lockdown measures.
It is a decision that has not been taken lightly, but one that is necessary at this time in the interests of the local community and to protect the wellbeing of those businesses and personnel who operate from the site.
We would ask vehicle owners to respect the decision and also be aware that any activity that may lead to obstructions on approach roads could lead to penalties being issued by the police. Footpaths and bridleways will remain open.
We wish all Burrows users well during this difficult period and hope to be back to normal as soon as possible. In the meantime please #staysafe.
